In HR world 3 + 6 = 10
Ok so here goes - looks like I’m the first post on this. I work at a really large multinational and am based in South Africa. I really cannot understand how a company like this can employ such incompetents to manage what should be the heart of the business’s support functions. If there’s only 1 thing a company needs to do correctly in terms of its employees it would be to pay them the right amount and on time.
So let’s analyze what happens instead - HR people have job descriptions that spans all the pink and fluffy gunk you can possibly imagine. I think half our problems would be solved had the job profile included the basics.. you know - like addition, subtraction etc. Instead we have highly trained ‘professionals’ that can’t calculate bonus figures using a simple Excel spreadsheet. But hey - they can speak for 6 hours nonstop on the importance of culture in an organisation and how much experience they have in managing people at different companies all over the countryside.. GRRR
